Mayor Steps Down Due to Health Reasons
Henley Town Council have announced that Councillor Sarah Miller has resigned as Mayor of Henley-on-Thames, effective immediately, due to health reasons. The Mayor, who has served since May, has made the difficult decision to step down from her role to focus on her health.
This was the second Mayoral term for Sarah who was elected in May.
In a statement, Mayor Sarah Miller expressed her gratitude to the community:
“It has been a profound honor to serve as the Mayor of Henley-on-Thames, a town that I hold dear to my heart. I am immensely grateful for the support and trust that the people of Henley have placed in me over the years. Regrettably, my health has reached a point where I must prioritize my recovery. I am confident that my successor will carry the torch forward with the same commitment and dedication that I have cherished during my tenure.”
The Town Clerk, Sheridan Jacklin-Edward also shared his thoughts:
“On behalf of the Henley-on-Thames Town Council and the entire community, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Miller for her tireless efforts in serving our town. We understand and respect her decision to prioritize her health, and we wish her a swift and complete recovery.”
In accordance with the town’s procedures, the Town Council will begin the process of selecting a new Mayor. This will likely take place at the next Full Council meeting on Tuesday 3 October.
