Membership of Over 60s Club Going From Strength to Strength

The Over 60’s Social Club hosted their AGM last week.

Since re-opening the kitchen, after the refurbishment, membership has gone from strength to strength.  The club now has 116 members.  Lunches are incredibly popular, especially on Fridays when they have a roast dinner and numbers can reach up to 40.

Club Chair of Trustees, Gill Dodds said, “Our members are so appreciative of the Club.  We continue with Bingo on Tuesday and Fridays, and craft club on a Tuesday with Anne Eggleton is very popular. Visits from Badgemore School are regular and recently they gave a performance of Toad Hall.  Prizes for the Greener Henley School Project were also presented.  We also had a visit from a local Ukulele Band which proved very popular.”

“A Big Coronation Party on Friday 5 May took place and many thanks to Anne Manning for a £1,000 donation.  This enabled us to make it a free event with lots of “extras”.  The members said it was “the best party ever”.  The members made crowns with Anne and Ken Fitt entertained.”

Lettings at the Club continue with use by the Bridge Club and Kuman Maths.  A card game initiative is also being undertaken by the Henley Herald.

Gill added, “We are very grateful to Mo and Theresa for their help with Bingo on Tuesday and Thursdays.  Huge thanks to our two Managers, Jacqui & Rebecca.  Also, our chef, Craig who continues to do an amazing job.  Thanks also to Phil with help with cleaning and keeping things washed up.  I would like to give thanks too to Sue our Treasurer and Liz our Secretary, to our Committee Members, Handibus drivers and finally Henley Town Council whose continued support for this Club and the senior citizens of Henley is greatly appreciated. When the Handibus was out of action recently it was appreciated how much the Club relies on their service.”
