Who will be the surprise act behind the big Town Hall doors tomorrow night for the first night of Henley’s Living Advent Calendar?
It will be one of the 24 talented local performers serving up a festive treat this Advent thanks to organiser Richard Rodway aided by Hugh Legh and a band of merry elves. The first night will start at 5.50pm with the others all starting at the regular time of 6.15pm apart from 6.00pm on 7 December at Holy Trinity Church.
This fantastic community initiative will visit 24 venues around town including new ones this year Chiltern House on Station Road and The Catherine Wheel and every evening it will support a different local charity with a raffle.
Based on an original idea from Stockholm, Henley’s Living Advent Calendar was the first of it’s kind in the UK and has been copied by other towns. It as won several awards including Towns Alive and The Big Society award from the Government.
Whilst enjoying the performances, you’ll be treated to some festive refreshments thanks to local business partners.
Richard Rodway said, “I’m really excited about the line up and experience for people we’re putting on this year – the schedule is packed full of quality, fun and variety, and doubtless 24 more memorable and special occasions will be created in the process. From the off, we’re doing a couple of things that people won’t be expecting. It’s great to be returning to a couple of venues that we haven’t been to in a number of years and, with some new acts for 2023, to compliment the tried and trusted Living Advent favourites who will be putting in fresh appearances, I hope people once again will come and join us, night after night, in spreading some must needed festive cheer whilst hopefully raising lots for the local good causes once again.”
