Henley Hawks Turn “Volume” Down as They Continue Winning Week!

Henley Hawks 1 played Volume in the RDNL Division 1 on Saturday and what a beautiful morning for a game of netball.

Henley Hawks used the first quarter to settle into the game and after the first quarter they were 1 goal ahead 10-9, after a talk and some much needed water Hawks came out firing on all cylinders and got to work. Judy Goforth (C) played seamlessly up and down the court, especially supporting the attacking goal. Sammy Coff (WA) held her own and found lovely space, placing balls into the Hawks shooters with precision. Going into Half time Hawks were winning 25-16.

In the third quarter the Hawks defensive trio of Lydia Johnston (GD) and Charlotte Hopper (GK) put immense pressure on Volumes shooters, interrupting their shooting and picking up rebounds and interceptions whilst Sarah Filby (WD) applied the pressure and support on the defensive D to ensure an easy turn back down the court all of this only allowed Volume to score 8 goals whereas Hawks shooters slotted a further 16 goals.

The final quarter Volume scored a flurry of goals but Henley Hawks dug deep and took control again, Katie Bayfield (GS) and Totie Thomas (GA) displayed their playing connection, moving, reading and supporting each other brilliantly, ensuring they continued converting goals to the final whistle.

Henley Hawks won the game 57-35.

A fantastic display of teamwork and excellent play, huge congratulations to Judy Goforth (C) for POM.
