Two Arrested After Suspected Shoplifting of Meat & Chocolate

Two men have been arrested last week in Henley on suspicion of stealing chocolate and meat totalling almost £100 at Sainsbury’s in Bell Street.

Thames Valley Police officer Victor Till was alerted to the pair by a member of Sainsbury’s staff and the officer intervened and arrested them.

After being identified by the force, the suspects were revealed to have been involved in previous incidents.  The men received a total of five charges between them and were remanded to court.

A Thames Valley Police statement said: “This week, PC Victor Till of the Henley Neighbourhood Team was patrolling retail outlets in Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire when he was alerted by a member of the public to the suspicious actions of two males within Sainsbury’s on Bell Street.   From speaking with the public we understand the impact Retail Crime has on retailers and the wider community. We continue to be relentless in our pursuit of offenders and continue to work with retailers to make the South and Vale LPA as hard as possible for criminals to offend in.
