Councillor Hoskins steps down due to ill health

Councillor Tony Hoskins is now on long-term medical leave from Henley Town Council after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in January this year.  He will not be attending any future Council meetings.
Tony was elected to Henley Town Council in May 2023 for the first time and was Chair of the Climate Emergency Group.  He was also a member of the Finance, Strategy & Management and Town & Community Council Committees.  His passion was leading the Council to be more environmentally sustainable and looking at solutions to tackle climate change.  He was pro-active member of Greener Henley too and Chair of Reading Energy.  He has lived in Henley for 11 years with his wife Tricia and before that in Reading where their three children grew up.
A spokesperson for Henley Town Council said, “Councillor Tony Hoskins is currently on a leave of absence from Henley Town Council due to ill health. We fully respect Tony and his family’s privacy and will continue to support Tony in whatever way is appropriate. Under the relevant arrangements, Councillor Hoskins remains a serving Town Councillor while he is on leave of absence. The Council will keep the position under review and will take any further action required in accordance with the appropriate procedures.  We would like to wish Tony and his family well at this time.”
