Have Your Say on New Basketball Court
In May 2022, the Town Council considered a proposal to provide a basketball court at Makins Recreation Ground. The Council would like to give residents of Henley and other users of the park an opportunity to express their views.
The proposal is to install a c.7m x 7m tarmac pad with a multiuse games area (MUGA) goal-end and basketball net with within the park, with the location to be decided. The Council are looking at four MUGA goal end options which range in price from £3,000 to £7,000 with an overall cost including the tarmac pad estimated at between £12,000-£16,000.
The initial idea came from a local resident and Gillotts student, George Allen, who began fundraising for a basketball provision as there is currently no facilities and players have to travel some distance to access suitable facilities.
