Jazz Concert Raises £900 for Ukrainians
A Jazz Concert in aid of MotherSisterDaughter who support Ukrainian refugees living in Henley and the surrounding area saw All Saints Church in Dunsden on Sat 1 October nearly full to hear local resident and well-known saxophonist Art Themen and his trio.
MotherSisterDaughter, a local community initiative, started by Henley resident, Gemma Birch who look after the physical and emotional needs of the Ukrainian women and children who are embedded in our local community.
The evening which was organised by John Bodman and Rosemary Jones was a total success and managed to raise £900 all of which will go into the not-for-profit organisation’s emergency fund.
Gemma Birch said, “‘The evening was such a fantastic success and one of our Ukrainian ladies was able to attend the event. The music was fantastic and hearing live Jazz in a beautiful church was a relaxing treat. Elena was able to record some of the concert and send it to her mother who listened in Ukraine – it was a very moving image.”
“We were overwhelmed by the generosity and support from people in attendance and the money will go into the pot we are building to ensure we can support our ladies as their needs arise. We are extremely grateful to John and Rosemary for organising the event and choosing to support Mother Sister Daughter and the work we are doing.”
