Herald Presents Cheque for £2300 to Bluebells

The Herald was delighted to present a large cheque for £2309 to Bluebells Day Centre at the Christ Church Centre on Monday which was the proceeds from their 10th Anniversary and Awards party which took place in early February at Henley Rugby Club attended by over 100 people.

The money was raised through ticket sales, donations and a raffle with prizes kindly donated by Henley Festival, Brakspear, Henley Rugby Club and The Relais hotel.

Michaela Clarke, Editor of the Herald said, “It was so lovely to visit Bluebells this week to see many of the guests enjoying flipping pancakes ahead of Shrove Tuesday and to see the roll the lemon game in action which I’d heard all about which was nearly won by Veronica who was celebrating her 92nd birthday that day but was beaten by Ann with the last throw!  We’ve agreed that some of the money will be spent on some new games and a support cushion plus a special treat for the guests which we hope will be a visit from some animals in the next month or two.  This was by far the biggest amount we have raised since we started the awards party five years ago.  I’d like to thank everyone for supporting the event and their donations to Bluebells.”

Chair of the Board of Trustees at Bluebells, Glen Lambert said, “On behalf of Bluebells Guests, Staff and Trustees I would like to congratulate the Henley Herald for their 10 year anniversary and also to thank Michaela Clarke for her continued support of Bluebells, Mike Read for the excellent job he did conducting the evening and to all those who attended for their generosity and for making the evening the fun it was. Bluebells could not provide the vital local services it does were it not for the local community and we are incredibly grateful for the support we receive.”
