Outdoor Theatre Performances of Twelfth Night and Wizard of Oz for Kenton Roadshow

Two top quality outdoor shows will be coming to Henley this summer as part of the Kenton Summer Roadshow.  Kenton pantomime production company, Immersion Theatre will be bringing their fun adaption of Wizard of Oz and Illyria Outdoor Theatre will be performing Shakespeare’s much-love Twelfth Night.

You are invited to click your heels and ease on down the yellow brick road at Rupert House playing fields on Saturday, 29 July at 2pm when Immersion Theatre will perform a brand-new adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, a magical family show guaranteed to have you in stitches from beginning to end!

Join Dorothy on her quest to the Emerald City as she and her loyal friends: the brainless but cheeky scarecrow, the cowardly lion, and the heartless (literally!) tin man, navigate through a magical land in search of the mighty and mysterious, Wizard of Oz. With the Wicked Witch of the West determined to stop them by any means necessary, however, will the spirit of friendship triumph over evil?

With lashings of audience participation, dazzling costumes, an original script, and plenty of laughter, this faithful re-telling promises to have you shouting, clapping and singing along to a host of brand-new songs as Immersion Theatre presents a fantastic treat for all the family!

In the beautiful grounds of Peel Fold by the river, award-winning Illyria Outdoor Theatre will perform Twelfth Night on Saturday 2 September at 7pm. Twelfth Night is a fantastic tale of romance, revenge, and mistaken identities with hilarious consequences.

Following a shipwreck, Viola is washed-up in, where her only chance for survival is to make use of her quick wit and fine singing voice, disguising herself as a man and applying to work in the court of Duke Orsino.  The lovesick Orsino sends “him” to lady Olivia to woo her on his behalf, but Viola’s efforts are so successful that Olivia falls for Viola rather than Orsino. Meanwhile Olivia’s carousing uncle Sir Toby Belch crosses swords with her steward Malvolio and devises a wicked plan to humiliate him. It could all end in tears – even if most of them are of laughter.

“Illyria has performed top-notch outdoor theatre for more than thirty years and we’re delighted to visit Henley this year. We’re all feeling the need to blow off some steam and get together with our loved ones. Enjoying entertainment outdoors is the perfect way to do that”, said Illyria Artistic Director Oliver Gray.
