River to be Lit Up Tomorrow Night By Boats

The second illuminated boat parade will be taking place tomorrow night (Saturday 16 Sept) starting from Fawley Meadows at 7.30pm up stream to Henley bridge. There will also be lighting all the houses from Phyllis Court to The Relais at the Red Lion.

Free viewing is available for all spectators along the towpath outside Leander Club down to Phyllis Court Club and from Thameside downstream from the bridge. The best place to see it all will be on the public towpath downstream below the bridge from Leander Club to Phyllis Court.

The Leander Club will be open to all the public from 7.00pm and there will be a cash bar and food trucks with a live band after the event.

There will be free illuminating wristbands for children while stocks last. Spectators are encouraged to wear illuminated clothes or accessories. There will be a prize for the best-illuminated spectator.

Judging of the boats will take place at 7.30pm with prize-giving at Leander at about 9.00pm.

Last year the best in parade boat was Chris Langley’s Scarlet Lady decorated with a crown inspired by the State funeral.  There will prizes for best in parade, best fancy dress, best music, best unpowered boat and best spectator.
