More Changes on the High Street

Studio 35 jewellers will be moving to new a workshop, Henley Sports on the corner of Greys Road will be closing after 30 years and a new nail bar Nails Deluxe has opened on Duke Street.

Alan Mann, owner of Henley Sports said, “After 30 yrs I am sad to say that Henley Sports will be closing down. Lack of support from schools, clubs and the community means that I can no longer continue. Last day of trading will be Saturday 14 October.  Alan is planning to do some sport coaching after he closes and will be continuing to offer mobile racquet stringing service.  He can be contacted on 07894 074455.

Studio 35 will be closing their shop at the end of November after 16 years on Duke Street and moving to a Henley workshop as well as using The Green Room behind the Town Hall for customer bespoke commission appointments.

Studio 35 Owner, Ant Reineke said, “’The Duke Street shop has been hugely successful and I have some amazing clients but having a permanent retail space is also a tie. It’s a time to evolve.  Over 16 years I’ve built up a good client base. The decision to close the shop is a life-style and stage in life choice and has come at a time when the lease was up for renewal.  I will be continuing to make high end bespoke pieces of jewellery. I love making jewellery and I can more selective in the jewellery I want to make going forward.  I’m really excited to have more freedom to show my jewellery to people around the country. I’m looking forward to hitting the road and doing pop-ups which I can’t do whilst having a shop.  Another downside of having a shop with a open workshop is that people coming into the shop is very disruptive to the highly-skilled, precision jewellery making process so being in a self-contained workshop will mean no distractions.”

The resurgence of British watchmaking has also led Anthony to wonder what he could bring to the industry.  He explained, “I’ve been inspired by the uptick in British watchmaking not least by Bremont, based here in Henley. I have designed a watch which brings my goldsmithing skills to the party. In other words, I can create a luxury watch in precious metals to a customer’s specification.”

Ant will continue to use social media platforms and Studio 35’s website to promote his work and will have a yearly show when he’ll invite his loyal customers.  You will be able to book an appointment with Ant via the website at https://www.studio35henley.com/
