Situation Vacant – Weekend Facilities Technician


This role reports to the Deputy Director, with a salary of £8,580.00 per annum (0.4 FTE). You will be required to work from 9.00am until 5.00pm with a 30-minute lunchbreak on Saturdays and Sundays only.

Some flexibility for additional hours may be required based on the needs of the business, but these will be agreed with suitable notice. There are 8 days holiday per annum. The appointment is
subject to references, an enhanced DBS check and 6-month probationary period. We operate an auto-enrolment pension scheme.

Main purpose of the role:
In this varied role, you will be providing support to the Building and Estate Management Team to ensure that our museum buildings and grounds are in working order, well presented, clean and
attractive for our visitors. You will be part of a small team delivering facilities support, ensuring all areas are accessible, secure, safe, well-presented, and fit for use for our visitors and staff.
You will occasionally support the team with event preparation and exhibition installation, event and educational workshop set ups, as well as acting as a keyholder to unlock and close up the site at
weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for weekend disarming of alarms and opening of all areas of the site, including gates, grounds, car park and buildings. Ability to set up the function rooms for events, with furniture, displays and equipment as required.
  • Liaise with Duty Manager during any events where technical or manual support is required.
  • Identify any health and safety hazards and communicating these to the duty manager or deal with them immediately as appropriate.
  • Ability to support duty manager in implementation of Museum emergency procedures.

  • ng site walk and report any concerns to the duty manager.
  • Deal with day-to-day basic fabric maintenance across site and call out of technical support when required.
  • Support car park operations, access and system administration as required.
  • Ensure grounds are kept in good working order.
  • Liaise with café contractors relating to operational needs.
  • Be responsible for weekend end of day site closure of all areas, including gates, grounds, car park and buildings and alarm activation.
  • Give controlled access to contractors and other project teams and assisting as an escort round the Museum as required.
